Burns & McDonnell Senior Mechanical Engineer - Aviation & Federal in Aiken, South Carolina
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, design analysis documents, and preparation of reports. This position will lead various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for specific tasks/design activities. Will also have responsibility for managing personnel within the Mechanical discipline.
Executes complex assignments requiring the use of advanced techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods.
May develop and evaluate plans for major projects.
May assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient, or testing is advisable.
May coordinate departmental or divisional project studies, reports or project design assignments.
Progressive design and project management responsibilities.
Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.
Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel.
Some marketing responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from accredited program and seven years related experience OR Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and six years related experience.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others including, but not limited to clients (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
Expert knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
Professional Engineer registration
Field Engineering experience
NQA-1 Nuclear Experience
DOE Q or L Clearance
