Burns & McDonnell Staff Mechanical Engineer - Aviation & Federal in Aiken, South Carolina
This position will be focused on Mechanical Engineering activities in our A & F Fueling group. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for specific tasks/design activities and will have some responsibility for managing personnel within the Mechanical discipline.
Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
Perform work which primarily involves aviation fueling design, along with conventional engineering practices. Entails coordinating fueling project studies and reporting preparation assignments.
This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from accredited program.
Three years mechanical fueling systems design experience including storage tanks and piping OR Master’s Degree in related field and two years fueling design experience.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience in similar task completion and/or mechanical design projects that demonstrate the ability to successfully solve difficult problems requiring adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
Professional Engineer registration.
Completion of FE exam.
2 years Field Engineering experience.
Demonstrates capability implementing original approaches to unique engineering challenges.
