Burns & McDonnell Jobsite Quality Control Inspector in Appleton, Wisconsin


* Summary:* Responsible for completing inspections and tests under the direction of the Site Quality Supervisor.

* Essential Duties and Responsibilities* include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Write exact and accurate inspections reports daily.

  • Effectively communicate with foreman and superintendent to assure specifications and code inspections are met.

  • Understand and interpret ASME and AWS codes, specifications, and customer requirements.

  • Verify correct filler wire for materials and weld processes being used.

  • Assist with scheduling NDE and PWHT as necessary.

  • Develop and maintain accurate reports of quality control inspections.

  • Test and qualify welders in accordance with a company welder testing procedures.

  • Verify welding personnel are working within their range of qualifications.

  • Assist with scheduling the authorized inspector (AI) for required inspections and complete sign-off of weld travelers.

  • Participate in the Jobsite Safety Observations (JSO's) process and define corrective measures for problem areas

  • Comply with all Safety & Health requirements and monitors construction activities to ensure adherence to safety standards.

* Education and/or Experience:*

High School diploma or GED; and related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable inspection experience as an AWS CWI/SCWI.

    Previous experience with performing QC inspections tasks within a formal quality program on a range of projects to include HRSG Erection Projects, Refinery-Oil & Gas projects, boiler and pressure vessel repair/alteration projects, structural steel erection.

    Must have previous experience with welder testing and qualification using ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1., and API 1104.

    Current AWS CWI certification required.

* Computer Skills:*

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong background in Microsoft Office products and Bluebeam.

* Other Qualifications:*

  • Background and knowledge (and ability to become certified) in level II in MT and PT certifications, as well as NDE processes for particle and liquid penetrant.

* Travel Requirements:*

Must be available to travel to jobsites not yet determined for the duration of a given project and to the home office approximately 10% of the time.
