Burns & McDonnell Atlanta Transmission Line Department Manager in Atlanta, Georgia
This position, located in Sandy Springs, GA, is responsible for the managerial direction and leadership of the Transmission Line Department in Georgia working directly with the T&D Regional Manager. Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties as assigned by T&D Regional Manager and other senior management:
Advocating for safety within the group.
Training, developing, mentoring, and career-development of the staff.
Recruiting top-talent as well as the engagement and retainage of staff.
Coordinating work for the Department including making assignments and reviewing performance in order to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
Supporting overall Regional Office development and resource coordination between GPs.
Fostering collaboration amongst transmission line EOs in both the Alpharetta, GA and Orlando, FL offices.
Interpreting policies, procedures, and goals of organization to staff.
Where needed, serve as project manager for key clients, new clients, or where new lines of business are being developed.
Serve as the technical advisor, providing senior-level input and evaluation on transmission line engineering projects.
Advocate for quality and ensure that the corporate and T&D quality initiatives are implemented, including coordinating with the appropriate teams to assign quality control reviewers.
Assisting in the development and execution of the Atlanta T&D Business Plan.
Responsible for the attainment of sales, revenue, and net-profit goals for the Department, including meeting billability and utilization goals.
Facilitating profitable and sound growth of the Department; achieving stated targets and standards for financial performance.
Preparing and monitoring the department budget and expenditure of funds for staffing hours, supplies, training, and equipment.
Supporting Human Resources on educational partnerships and internship programs.
Advancing and developing Department tools and work flows to increase efficiency of designs, specification development, and project execution.
Recommending changes in basic structure and organization of the department to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives assigned to it.
Organizing, leading and conducting the annual performance appraisal process for department staff.
Supporting diversity initiatives.
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an accredited program. Minimum 7 years related professional experience. Technical ability in transmission line engineering design is required. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management,
and clients. Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change. Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective. Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer
