Description

The Diverse Business Manager will engage in a variety of tasks including relationship building, proposal development support, subcontract planning, supporting project teams during project execution, seeking new opportunities through existing and new diverse business relationships, and reporting on diverse supplier progress and status. The Diverse Business Manager will be responsible for fostering a culture of proactive communication, continuous improvement, and a focus on growth and profitability. The Business Diversity Manager will coordinate diverse business efforts across each business line within the region and keep the Southeast Regional Office aligned with Burns & McDonnell’s corporate business diversity guidelines.

  • Regularly meet and coordinate with BMcD Business Diversity Director to ensure consistent and best practices for business diversity are being implemented within the region.

  • Serve as the primary client and diverse supplier-facing representative of the regional office diverse business strategy.

  • Responsible for building business relationships with clients and diverse businesses.

  • Represent and advocate for client's diverse business needs, goals and expectations within the region to demonstrate the commitment to diverse business participation and client service.

  • Partner with Account Managers and Project Managers in managing their client's diverse business goals and expectations and implement strategies to consistently meet them.

  • Partner with Account Managers and Project Managers to engage with diverse suppliers and help implement strategies to consistently utilize diverse businesses where applicable.

  • Support the Account Managers, Project Managers and project teams with initiating, negotiating, and maintaining agreements with diverse businesses.

  • Coordinate with the Account Managers, Project Managers and project teams to verify diverse businesses rates support project profitability.

  • Provide support in addressing and mitigating disputes, claims and contract issues between Burns & McDonnell and diverse businesses as necessary.

  • Prepare quarterly diverse supplier progress/status reports for all business lines within the region or as required by the client.

  • Assist with developing metrics and tracking tools that will provide diverse spend data in accordance with client expectations.

  • Support training of project teams in reporting diverse business activities and diverse spend data in accordance with client standards.

  • Engage with BMcD Business Diversity Director and client business diversity team to address reporting issues.

  • Manage and support the project requirements such as verifying compliance with business diversity commitments and client expectations, develop and maintain a database of diverse businesses with the safety, quality, capabilities and capacity pertinent to the region's projects and corporate and client requirements.

  • Manage relationships within BMcD with specific clients and the diverse business community.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited program.

  • Minimum seven years related professional experience in project management with a minimum of three years of engineering experience.

  • Experience in an EPC execution setting preferred.

  • Knowledge of procurement and subcontracts in addition to strategic sourcing and supply chain management.

  • Ability to negotiate new outcomes that result in progress for business diversity.

  • A strong network and presence within the external diverse business community and experience building connections within business diversity organizations.

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

  • Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.

  • Must possess strong management skills and a strategic perspective.
