Burns & McDonnell Senior Pipeline Facility Engineer - Pipelines (Atlanta) in Atlanta, Georgia

Description

The Burns & McDonnell office in Atlanta is looking for a Senior Pipeline Facility Engineer to lead pipeline facility project teams for a variety of natural gas facility projects. The Senior Pipeline Facility Engineer will lead design project teams for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects including transmission and distribution pipelines. The Senior Pipeline Facility Engineer will lead the project team throughout the design, procurement, and construction process, adapting design plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

Position may include full or partial responsibility of the following assignments:

  • Lead in the execution of engineering activities

  • Pipeline facility design (metering and regulating stations, storage field upgrades, valve sites, and compressor stations) including plans, sections, details, associated bill of materials, and related pipeline design

  • Coordination to obtain survey, geotechnical investigations, permitting, land acquisition.

  • Calculations for studies and reports

  • Prepare packaged equipment and construction specifications and data sheets, Request's for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and provide purchase recommendations.

  • Material and equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing

  • Prefabricated skid, module, and/or equipment specification, coordination with vendors, review, and selection/recommendation

  • Lead in preparation of proposals and scope development, including

  • Conceptual designs and execution plans

  • Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules

  • Lead coordination of design activities with other disciplines (Pipeline, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, etc.)

  • Develop and improve processes, tools and/or factory acceptance testing procedures

  • Quality review production drawings for a variety of projects and project related data to verify design compliance with project, client, and industry standards, including constructability.

  • Quality review the construction administration including, coordination with field personnel to resolve design related installation issues, calculations, field inspections and testing of materials.

  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.

  • Provide leadership, training and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members

  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel

  • Provide short term field support during construction

  • Support business development and marketing initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited program

  • Minimum of 7 years related experience (completion of master’s degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience)

  • Professional Engineer registration strongly preferred

  • Proficiency with 49 CFR Part 192 and ASME B31.8. Preference for familiarity with 49 CFR Part 195 and ASME B31.4

  • Strong preference for those with:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria

  • Capability of supporting multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
