Burns & McDonnell Outreach Policy Strategist - (Dallas or Austin TX) in Austin, Texas

Description

The Assistant Transportation Policy Strategist will support Planning and Policy staff on a wide variety of communication and public outreach services for our clients. This includes developing and implementing programmatic and project communication strategies and developing resources to make our clients successful.

  • Assists with developing and implementing policy communications and public engagement plans for clients.

  • Develops collateral materials such as newsletters, fact sheets, meeting notices, PowerPoint presentations and scripts, new releases, meeting exhibits, and interactive maps

  • Design and organize project assets and graphics.

  • Manages event logistics, attending and participating in public meetings, logging inquiries, and data management.

  • Website design and content development

  • Coordinate and develop materials for stakeholder and client meetings.

  • Develops and manages mailing lists.

  • Organize and respond to public inquires

  • Develop content for social media posts

  • Participate in proposal development and project presentations.

  • Assist in organizing and managing project information files and coordinating the interchange of project outreach information to project managers and clients.

  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, graphic design or a related field from an accredited program required. A minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • A minimum of 0 to 3 years professional experience preferred.

  • Completion of a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience.

  • Prior internship or related experience a plus.

  • Design/presentation software (Adobe Creative Suite) experience required.

  • Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Graphic and website design experience preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • High level of attention to detail. Proofreading experience required.

  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Experience in online community engagement software a plus.
