We have a specific opportunity for an experienced Bid Manager to join our team, working on engineering and EPC bids within the electricity and gas Transmission & Distribution sector. This role will lead our UK bidding work, working with our US bid team and drawing upon technical input from our UK and US engineers. It will report to the UK Business Development Director.
We are addressing projects across the energy spectrum, encompassing electricity and gas networks, bidding into the regulated utility networks and project developers in this sector. This role will be a key part of our UK team, bringing experience in developing winning bids for clients in the regulated and non-regulated infrastructure sector. This role will lead all UK bidding activity, working with colleagues from the US and UK to develop and articulate the value that Burns & McDonnell has been delivering to clients for 120 years. The ideal candidate will have experience in the infrastructure sector and be able to work closely with the in-house marketing team based in the US. The candidate will work closely with the Operations Director, Business Development Director and Managing Director and with supply chain partners to develop value propositions and articulate these in writing and visually within PQQ and Tender submissions for engineering and EPC projects across the UK.
This role will lead all UK bidding activity, working with colleagues from the US and UK to develop and articulate the value that Burns & McDonnell delivers to clients bringing experience in developing winning bids for clients in the regulated and non-regulated infrastructure sector. The ideal candidate will have experience in the infrastructure sector and be able to work closely with the in-house marketing team based in the US. The candidate will work closely with the Managing Director and Business Development Director and with chosen partner organisations to develop value propositions and articulate these in writing and visually within PQQ and Tender submissions for engineering and EPC projects across the UK.
Liaise with the in-house marketing team based in Kansas City, US to draw from existing marketing and capability documents and to brief in creation of marketing documents and publications
Monitor and track OJEU notices and other opportunity databases
Lead the whole tender process from opportunity capture through to contract award, owning the bid process and quality of submissions.
Adherence to company work winning processes that follow international best practice
Writing and preparing Statement of Qualifications (SoQ) to articulate business capability to clients ahead of formal procurement processes.
Supporting the rewriting of marketing brochures to tailor documents to UK client needs. Working with US marketing team and marketing lead for document production and local printing in the UK.
Complete PQQ responses drawing upon input from various internal departments including marketing, finance, legal, insurance etc.
Lead on completion of tender submissions, running the bid process and coordinating input from subject matter experts across the business based in global offices
Gather technical input for tender responses from SME’s and previous submissions and craft well written and clear tender responses that articulate the value that Burns & McDonnell can bring to make our clients successful.
Support the BDD in maintaining Client Relationship Maps and CRM as we move to adopt the company global software in the UK
Able to manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines
Able to work autonomously and/or as part of a project team
Able to discuss and define client requirements, reflecting a clear understanding in tenders and proposals
Degree of HND in a construction or engineering related discipline
Minimum of 5 years of bid management experience and 3 years supporting the T&D infrastructure sector
Good bidding project management skills
Excellent standard of written English and communication skills
Good project management skills
Familiarity with desktop publishing software beneficial
Good proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
Ability to travel nationally is required for the role with the level of travel varying significantly over time depending on project and client requirements.
Typical travel expectation will be 5% - 10% of working time per year.
