Burns & McDonnell Project Manager (Manufacturing / Industrial Facility Design) in Brea, California

Description

Burns & McDonnell is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Project Manager in Southern CA to build a strong regional presence to service local clients. This individual will grow a project team, further client relationships around our major clients in CA and build a national reputation for execution.

Ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate activities of several disciplines on a project of moderate scope or a combination of smaller projects

  • Project manage and pursue a wide variety of industrial facility projects including aircraft manufacturing facilities, aircraft paint facilities, flightline operation facilities, jet engine test facilities, large infrastructure upgrade projects or other manufacturing facilities

  • Oversee proposal development for project pursuits

  • Assist in the direction of project planning, budgeting and also in establishing project critical path objectives

  • Manage project resources and sub-consultants

  • Provide inspirational leadership by attracting, retaining, motivating and developing high caliber, multi-discipline talent

  • Collaborate with managers, marketing staff and other Burns & McDonnell Global Practices to identify and analyze business development opportunities that are strategically aligned with company’s objectives

  • Identify target clients for Burns & McDonnell and cultivate effective relationships with existing and potential key clients, customers and contractors to develop business

  • Develop pursuit strategy, capture plan development, go/no-go decisions in order to pre-sell projects before RFP release

  • Participate in necessary regional trade associations and professional organizations

  • Lead project teams in the manufacturing field

  • Will initially support the development and contracting of new pursuits, then execute projects in support of identified Burns & McDonnell client/s. In time, position will be responsible for expansion to new clients throughout the region

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience, including 3 or more years managing manufacturing and/or industrial engineering or architectural projects

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage work plans, schedules and budgets and provide leadership to a diverse project team

  • Flexibility to travel 25% of the time

  • Ability to apply and receive approval for assigned client screening and badging

  • Strong appreciation of the design-build contracting methodology and prior experience completing design-build projects

  • Must be versed in contract negotiation

  • Strong communication abilities exhibited by developed client relationships. Ability to quickly build long-term connections with internal and external clients by networking

  • Must carry strong interpersonal and communication skills and display a positive can-do attitude both internally and externally

  • Experience with aircraft assembly and manufacturing processes is preferred

  • Professional Registration in CA preferred
