Burns & McDonnell Senior Architect - Sustainability Specialist (Brea, CA) in Brea, California

Description

The Senior Architect - Sustainability Specialist works with clients and project teams to establish and achieve goals related to sustainable building design and construction.

  • Comply with federal and state high performance and/or sustainable design standards for client projects.

  • Provide leadership to project design and construction teams in compliance with the "Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings" and guide projects through associated third-party certification programs.

  • Provide leadership to project design and construction teams in compliance with commercial green building rating systems, including LEED, and guide projects through associated third-party certification programs.

  • Present new trends, data, and sustainability goals to internal and external clients.

  • Assist with developing innovative strategies to improve performance and sustainability in building and construction and provide measurable metrics and help implement best demonstrated practices.

  • Assist with sustainability initiatives through integrated design to achieve energy savings, protect and conserve water, enhance the indoor environment, reduce environmental impact of materials, and address building resiliency.

  • Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • Responsible for diversity initiatives.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited program and 8 years of related architectural experience required, consulting preferred.

  • 8 years related professional experience in sustainable design field is highly preferred. Federal projects including DOD and DOE project experience is a plus.

  • LEED Accredited Professional with BD C specialty is required.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • A strong understanding of environmental/sustainable design practices, regulatory requirements, and current trends in the profession.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments and devising new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Expert knowledge in standard architectural techniques and procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Expert computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, BIM (Revit), Adobe Suites, and 3D rendering programs).

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

  • Expert attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with leading the design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Registered Architect Preferred

Compensation Range

$125,000 - $180,000

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
