Description

Lead electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. Prepare electrical equipment: packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations. Review electrical equipment vendor drawings, data interface with suppliers, clients other engineering disciplines, detailers, designers. Participate in development of project schedule, scope, budget staffing planning and construction planning. Responsible for effective management of change orders. Quality review production drawings for a variety of projects and project related data as required by the project managers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software. Quality review construction administration, including coordination with field personnel to resolve design related installation issues, calculations, field inspections and testing of electrical systems. Lead field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients. Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications. Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met. Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits. Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance. Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates. Report project performance. Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the electrical engineering practice. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers. Responsible for QA/QC process adherence. Telecommuting up to thirty (30) days per year is permitted. Up to 25% of travel for site visits, client visits, and technical conferences. Multiple positions available.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus seven (7) years of power engineering experience. Professional Engineering (PE) License required.

Must have at least six (6) years of experience with the following:

  • Standard engineering techniques and procedures.

  • Electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards.

  • Microsoft Office Suite.

Must have at least four (4) years of experience with the following:

  • Physical substation design including yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and associated bills of material.

  • Protection and control design including panel arrangements, one lines/single lines, three lines, AC schematics, DC elementaries, equipment wiring and relay panel wiring.

  • Prepare calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.).

Must have at least three (3) years of experience with the following:

  • Perform qualify reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

  • Develop scopes of work, conceptual designs, and execution plans.

  • Provide short term field support during construction.

  • Ability to lead the technical team to support the Project Manager.

  • AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and/or other analysis programs (CDEGs and/or WinIGS, etc.).

Must have at least two (2) years of experience with the following:

  • Prepare engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules.

Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus six (6) years of power engineering industry experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus seven (7) years of described experience. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.

Telecommuting up to thirty (30) days per year is permitted. Up to 25% of travel for site visits, client visits, and technical conferences.

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
