Burns & McDonnell Distribution Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina
Our Transmission & Distribution global practice is looking for a Distribution Engineer to join our growing Distribution Modernization business line in Atlanta, GA. This position will entail leading 2.4kV to 34.5kV electric utility distribution projects and project teams.
Additionally, the role requires the ability to handle multiple projects and to prioritize work. This position will be responsible for development of an array of challenging items including but not limited to; project development, project estimation, internal team and project leadership, and the technical expertise to deliver on multiple complex utility distribution projects. This position will require interface with utility clients and collaboration with multiple offices. Areas of responsibility may include the following:
Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to staff members.
Prepare proposals and engineering/project cost estimates.
Coordinate multiple projects with clients and/or internal stakeholders
Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel.
Assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient, or testing is advisable.
Prepare distribution line construction packages.
Possess a working knowledge of project schedules.
Prepare calculations and equipment specifications.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in engineering from accredited program.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.
Minimum 3 years distribution design experience.
Working knowledge of distribution design principles, standards, and codes.
Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to professionally interact with clients, lead project calls, and direct teammates on design requirements.
Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
Ability to multitask in a face-paced environment.
