Burns & McDonnell Project Controls Technician in Chicago, Illinois

Description

The Project Controls Technician will support maintaining project cost performance reports, logging invoices, providing schedule support and entering data in cost systems.

  • Create vendor/sub invoice coversheets in MIS.

  • Assist with upstream (prime contract) and downstream (PO & subcontract) change orders.

  • Assist with project set-up in Oracle Financial MIS/PPS Accounting Module or Oracle Primavera Contracts Manager Program.

  • Input data; maintain logs in Oracle Primavera Contracts Manager software and/or the Oracle Financials MIS/PPS Accounting software.

  • Assist with creating Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for tracking detailed breakdown of purchase orders and subcontracts.

  • Assist with budget tracking against purchase orders and subcontracts.

  • Assist with the set up of a Change Management System.

  • Input updates to cost reports or forecasts in Oracle Primavera P6.

  • Assist in the development of Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 schedules.

  • Assist with creating schedules and diagrams in Microsoft Visio.

  • Assist with set up of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in Oracle Primavera 6 or Microsoft Project scheduling software.

  • Input logic ties within the schedule.

  • Print various schedule reports and format as directed.

  • Input data and update schedule progress reports.

  • Assist with resource loading a schedule.

  • Assist with the development of an earned value tracking document.

  • Print pre-programmed scheduling reports from P6 along with back-up documentation.

  • Assist with integrating data from one program to another.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in unrelated field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • A minimum of 1 year direct project controls experience.

  • Ability to work independently, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient PC skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with one or more project controls software or tool preferred.

  • May be required to obtain an OSHA 10 hour safety certification.
