This position will be responsible for the successful completion of a diverse range of projects in Mechanical (HVAC) and Plumbing design. This candidate will have a strong grasp of both air and hydronic systems and have a strong desire to work on a range of projects from small packaged air systems to large central utility plants, seeing these projects through as the lead mechanical engineer from studies and master planning through final design and construction administration. Projects and clients will include airports, universities, colleges, industrial facilities, commercial facilities, and government facilities.

This role will be responsible for the following:

  • Preparing plans, flow diagrams, controls, specifications, cost estimates, and studies.

  • Take projects from inception to completion.

  • Manage small projects, project teams, clients, project scopes, project budgets and project schedules. Lead a mechanical design team and be capable and willing to help grow the group.

  • Identify new clients and new opportunities.

  • Proactively grow existing client relationships into repeat business and expanded service offerings.

  • Direct coordination with internal clients and external clients.

  • Serves as key account manager to develop work with existing clients.

  • Directs and coordinates activities of several disciplines on a project or program of moderate scope or a combination of moderate and smaller projects while also serving as lead mechanical engineer;

  • Participates in and leads direction of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and establishing critical project objectives;

  • Takes responsible charge of the mechanical discipline on projects and mentors assistant mechanical engineers and designers in development of mechanical design.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum

  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience, including 3 or more years leading the mechanical discipline for multi-discipline projects (completion of master’s degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience).

  • Professional Engineering License required.

  • Flexibility to travel 10% of the time.

  • Energy modeling and Life Cycle Cost Analysis referred

  • Revit proficiency preferred

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to quickly build long-term connections with internal and external clients.

  • Must display a positive can-do attitude both internally and externally.

  • This position will be performing Federal related project work for Burns & McDonnell's client(s). A qualified applicant must have the ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization to the clients' facilities.EEO/Minorities/Females/Disabled/Veterans
