Burns & McDonnell’s regional operation in Chicago (downtown Chicago & Downers Grove, IL) is looking for a Staff Environmental Air Specialist to provide air permitting and compliance services to the power, industrial, commercial, transportation and manufacturing industries. The Staff Environmental Air Specialist will work within our Environmental Services Global Practice and perform the following duties:
Prepare air permit application packages and associated documentation.
Conduct environmental site assessments and inspections to ensure compliance with local, state and federal air quality requirements.
Perform emission calculations and estimates for routine emissions, as well as greenhouse gas and maintenance, startup and shutdown emissions.
Work with client and team members to manage projects, budgets and timelines
Assist with multi-media-based questions and document preparation, such as Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, and filings pursuant to the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA).
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related Science degree from an accredited program plus 4 years of applicable experience or related Engineering degree from an accredited program plus of 3 years of applicable experience.
Completion of a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
Previous consulting experience related to air pollution permitting and compliance and/or multimedia environmental compliance audits, environmental management systems, and report writing preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local air regulations with emphasis on the Clean Air Act, including New Source Review/Prevention of Significant Deterioration, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, New Source Performance Standards, Title V Permitting, Title VI Ozone Depleting Substances.
Experience in air quality dispersion models such as AERMOD, AERSCREEN, CALPUFF, VISCREEN, PLUVUE and SLAB, is a plus .
Sustainability background is a plus
Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex requests.
Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
