Burns & McDonnell Transportation Planning and Policy Project Manager in Dallas, Texas
Burns & McDonnell has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager in the Planning & Policy Department of the Transportation Global Practice. The Department supports the Transportation Global Practice, working with private sector and public sector clients. This position works under the guidance of a Section Manager and will have the opportunity to work in the areas of planning, policy, public involvement, stakeholder engagement and strategic communications.
This position works with Section Manager to manage multiple projects varying in size and complexity, associated with outreach, public policy, emerging technology platforms and strategic business planning.
Ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget and meet or exceed client expectations. Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
Organizes staff and projects for success.
Leads engagement/communication project scoping, cost estimating, planning, and budget tracking.
Identifies opportunities and provides input and evaluation on major pursuits and projects.
Develops new and manages existing client relationships, while interfacing with the client for proposal and project related items
Oversees the training of project teams, coordinate activities of multiple global practices/disciplines, and facilitate the efficient cost-effective utilization of staff while adhering to contractual and performance requirements.
Presents to internal and external executive management as required.
Bachelor’s Degree in planning, communications, business administration, public relations/political science, marketing, or a related field required.
Minimum 7 years of experience required, 5 to 10 years of experience in transportation/infrastructure-related field (public involvement/strategic communications, planning, or policy) preferred. Prefer AEC industry experience and a minimum of 2 years of project management experience.
Experience in public speaking, as well as developing and editing content for proposals, articles, collateral, technical reports, high level messaging, speech writing, and presentations required.
Experience in managing large events and providing direction to creative staff is preferred.
Position will primarily work for our transportation group but could also be involved with projects for other global practices
