Burns & McDonnell Automation Engineer and Project Manager in Fort Worth, Texas

Description

Designs, programs, simulates and tests automated machinery and processes in order to complete tasks. Responsible for design specifications and other detailed documentation including process layouts, establishing process/equipment capability, work methods, technical/financial analysis and optimization strategies. Develops proposals and develop cost estimates for automated systems. The scope and area of influence may include the entire product life cycle, from raw materials to delivered finished goods.

Directs and coordinates activities of several disciplines on a project of moderate scope or a combination of smaller projects. Direct coordination with clients and other external clients. May initiate or assist in contract negotiations or preparation. Assist in direction of project planning, budgeting and establishing critical project objectives.

  • Provide support in the development and implementation of advanced technology production systems.

  • Assess processes in diverse manufacturing and distribution environments

  • Communicate using data to focus resources, methods, processes, and systems to extract knowledge or insights from data in various forms, either structured or unstructured.

  • Provide detailed analysis for decision makers for process improvement, standardization opportunities, capital investment business cases with regards to automated equipment

  • Develop capacity analyses to maintain efficient manpower and equipment utilization

  • Support the implementation of lean supply chain, quality, and safety initiatives

  • Project Management -- manage projects from conception through completion including suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Evaluate and document spatial constraints of materials, products, packaging and processes

  • Conceptualize spatial process requirements to apply advanced materials handling technologies using controlled processes and systems

  • Develop requirement specifications, system concepts, generate machine layouts, detail drawings, BOM’s and budgets

  • Interface as a team with coworkers, clients, and contractors

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum. Minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing or distribution environment. Experience creating detailed process specifications and documentation. Advanced data assessment and processing capabilities. Experience in production engineering in Manufacturing or Distribution. Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government and public contracts on project-related matters. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Functional capabilities in multiple software platforms including Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with ERP systems including SAP & Oracle. Familiarity with warehouse management software such as WMS, WES and WCS software systems and functions. RIA certification preferred.

Professional Registration preferred.
