The Assistant Project Controls Manager is responsible for ensuring that all projects have an assigned project controller that will develop and maintain the required cost breakdown, schedule, and project tracking documents to ensure a successful completion. He/she is capable of developing the tracking documents and providing direction for current and future project controllers. Duties include determining staffing requirements and assisting with training of personnel. Additional duties are to recruit, hire and provide career development opportunities and other duties as assigned by the Director of Planning & Estimating.


  • Extensive knowledge of scheduling, planning and controlling cost for projects of various global practices.

  • Ability to plan, schedule and delegate work; and to independently carry out investigations, make calculations and determine corrective actions required to properly re-align a project with the original plan.

  • Must be able to read multi-discipline drawings.

  • Must have excellent people and communication skills.

  • Directs the work of project controllers with adequate follow-up to ensure project requirements are being met.

  • Assist estimating in developing preliminary schedules to accompany proposals.

  • Participate in project meetings with knowledge of scope and engineering and design requirements to effectively setup cost, progress, and schedule tracking documents.

  • Provide written and oral reports necessary to keep the Project Manager informed of current project status.

  • Assist in evaluating and developing corrective action plans to ensure projects are completed successfully.

  • See that projects are invoiced in a timely manner in conjunction with the invoicing plan set up in the contract.

  • Work with accounting to see that projects are closed out in a timely manner.

  • Management of the project controls budget.

  • All other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field.

  • 10 Years of Experience in Project Controls for construction.

  • Management experience preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge in Primivera Scheduling and cost control metrics.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

  • Osha 10 hour certification preferred.

  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).

  • Knowledge of document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software is preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to meet company's driving requirements.


  • The base work schedule will be a five (5) day workweek (Monday through Friday) with some exceptions based on the office or project location. Periodic weekend work and extended workdays may be required. Business travel after regular work hours will be required. Night shift work may be required to support project execution.


  • Work locations could include office-based or construction jobsites that include working in adverse climates, and extensive walking, requiring stairs, passenger use of personal hoists, negotiating work areas under construction, climbing permanent and temporary ladders and occasional lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to sit, walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and bend. Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear and perceive the nature of sounds by ear. Must be able to safely operate motor vehicles. May at times need to access confined spaces or work locations at elevation requiring utilization of respirators, self-contained breathing apparatus, and/or fall protection.

  • Projects may require occasional long hours and infrequent days off, occasional night shifts or moderate to long periods of working consecutive nights.


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Ability to visit onsite field locations with occasional overnight travel

  • Ability to lift 30lbs


  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Ability to interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment

  • Currently have or ability to obtain a TWIC card and Additional safety training
