Burns & McDonnell Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution (Houston) in Houston, Texas

Description

We are seeking to hire an Assistant Project Manager or higher to join our EPC group within our Transmission and Distribution Global Practice in our Houston, TX regional office. Duties include:

  • Directs and coordinates bidding, negotiation, and project execution activities of several disciplines on engineer, procure, construct (EPC) projects of moderate to large scope or a combination of smaller EPC projects. Direct coordination with Transmission and Distribution clients, contractors, material suppliers, and other external stakeholders.

  • Additional responsibilities include supervision and coordination of multidiscipline engineering, permitting, procurement, and construction management teams.

  • Responsible for overall project management, project planning, scheduling, resource management, risk management, change management, meeting financial requirements and establishing and meeting critical project objectives.

  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.

  • Identify opportunities and manage team efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation, and related activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field from an accredited curriculum is preferred.

  • Minimum 7 years related experience.

  • Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of project-related matters.

  • Proven ability to develop business and establish relationships with clients.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • The ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.

  • Demonstrated success in project management.

  • Proficiency in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.

  • Experience in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Projects preferred

  • Field experience preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) and Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
