Description
Burns & McDonnell is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join the Industrial Electrical team. As a staff electrical engineer you will work as part of a team of engineers and designers, under supervision of a more experienced engineer or project manager, and perform engineering activities on engineering only, design-build projects and studies.
Some of the duties and responsibilities include:
Create one-line diagrams for 15kV and 5kV and 480V and DC systems
Perform load flow, short circuit, and arc flash studies in SKM or ETAP
Specify and purchase large electrical equipment such as switchgear, MCCs, and electrical buildings
Regularly meet and correspond with clients and vendors
Travel to the project site and factory acceptance tests
Create MV and LV motor schematics
Manage a cable schedule and size cables
Perform hazardous area classification studies
Interact daily with other discipline engineers and designers
Receive mentoring from more experienced electrical engineers
Provide guidance to less experienced team members
Estimate labor hours and material quantities for your assigned projects
Be responsible for the quality of electrical deliverables
Travel to the project site during construction to answer questions from the field
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be willing to travel to the job site and meet with clients and construction personnel to scope projects and answer construction questions.
Refinery, midstream, or manufacturing experience a plus.
This position requires a competent individual who can find good solutions to difficult problems by using creating thinking and being proactive to interact with other engineers.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from accredited program.
Minimum 3 years related experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience).
Completion of FE exam is a plus. Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
