Burns & McDonnell Entry-Level Civil/Structural Engineer- Transmission & Distribution in Houston, Texas
The electric Transmission and Distribution (T&D) market is continuing to evolve due to technology advancements and policy changes. Utilities rely on Burns & McDonnell to execute projects associated with this evolution. Burns & McDonnell, the #1 engineering firm in T&D as rated by ENR magazine, is looking for several talented civil engineers to join both the T&D Overhead Transmission Department and Civil/Structural Department. Project work in the Overhead Transmission Department includes alignment development, working with LiDAR survey data, structure loading development, hardware design, foundation design, schedule management, and close collaboration with co-workers, material vendors, and clients. Project work in the Civil/Structural Department includes site development, permitting support, structure loading development, structure analysis and design, foundation design, schedule management, and collaboration with other project discipline members, material vendors, and clients.
The ideal candidates will have strong technical, customer service, and communication skills. A desire to proactively acquire new design skills is required. Candidates should also have a strong desire to be a project, team, and technical leader.
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from accredited program. Completion of FE exam strongly preferred. Entry-level position (zero to two years of professional experience). Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Previous internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
