Burns & McDonnell Pipeline Designer/Mapper in Houston, Texas


We are seeking a Pipeline Designer/Mapper for our Transmission & Distribution Global Practice in Houston, TX! This position will work on various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.

  • Work in close collaboration with project managers, project engineers and pipeline engineers

  • Ensure quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned design tasks

  • Check assigned drawings supplied by vendors, clients and other discipline groups throughout the project to ensure quality designs.

  • Initial Setup, creation, and completion of:

  • Plan and Profile alignment sheets

  • Permit drawings (road, railroad, waterbody crossings)

  • Easement Plats and Sketches

  • Typical Detail drawings

  • Hydrostatic Test drawings

  • Horizontal Directional Drilling drawings

  • Grading Plans and Site-specific drawings

  • QA/QC and process survey data


  • Minimum 4 years of drafting/design experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Pipeline Mapping experience

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D software

  • Experience with BlueSky, preferred

  • Basic knowledge of how pipelines and facilities interact

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Self-motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills

Travel: Yes, 5 % of the Time
