Burns & McDonnell Resident Representative / Senior Utility Coordinator - Transportation in Houston, Texas
Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Resident Representative to serve as Senior Utility Coordination Specialist for ROW and land acquisition projects relating to transportation projects in Texas. The position will be located in the Houston, TX area but there may be opportunities for relocation depending upon the project(s) assigned.
The ideal candidate in this position will have prior utility coordination experience on highway projects, preferably working with TxDOT. Roadway planning, design, and/or construction project management experience is also a plus. Must be able to work within a team to accomplish organizational goals, be an effective communicator, and have strong organization and time management skills with the ability to meet priorities and deadlines. Must be able to make professional presentations and display a high level of professionalism and integrity.
Position will include the following:
Manage client expectations related to utility conflicts and relocations.
Ability to read and understand utility exhibits, agreements, along with roadway schematics and plans.
Ability to field verify installations per plans, agreements and assemblies.
Ability to produce TxDOT daily reports including pictures
Coordinate team efforts including collaboration with utility companies, developers, designers and TxDOT.
Identify critical utility conflicts and develop utility relocation plans involving utility companies, developers and TxDOT.
Monitor utility relocation progress before, during and after construction including field verification, records management and status reporting.
Recruit and manage subcontractors as part of project teams.
Participate in public involvement meetings for projects involving utility issues.
Manage all communications related to internal team, subcontractors and client.
Initiate or assist in contract negotiations or preparation, including creation and review of estimates for reasonableness of cost.
Manage direction of project planning, budgeting, scheduling and establishing critical project objectives.
Direct coordination with clients and internal staff.
Up to 75% travel.
B.S. degree from an accredited curriculum in a related field, engineering preferred. Texas Professional Engineering License not required but preferred. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (emphasis on excel) and computer aided drafting. Eight or more years related experience. TxDOT experience overseeing utility process on design-build or public-private-partnership projects preferred.
