Burns & McDonnell SCADA Engineer/Technician in Houston, Texas

Our Transmission & Distribution global practice is looking for a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Engineeror Technicianin ourHouston, TXoffice for SCADA deployment projects. The SCADAEng/Techwill be responsible for engineering design and technicalexecutionof multiple SCADA deployment projects. Major responsibilities for the SCADA Eng/Techwill include:

  • Design SCADA systems utilizing client standards or developing new standards. Project deliverables may include:

  • Points lists

  • Ddevice configuration files

  • Eequipment migration plans

  • Bill of materials

  • Eengineering specifications

  • Ccommunication diagrams

  • Identify and troubleshoot device communications using several different protocols

  • Implement SCADA systems using various different transports and protocols

  • Quality: create and maintain checklists to ensure quality control

  • Provide support to customers in field of expertise

  • Execute complex assignments requiring the use of advanced tools and techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods.

  • Identify, communicate and resolve issues on projects as needed.

  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.

  • Work with the project manager to establish project schedule and lead the engineering team to meet deadlines.

  • Work closely with the project team to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to client’s satisfaction and that projects are following internal QA/QC guidelines.

  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel to develop relationships with key client points of contact.

  • Prepare proposals and assist in presentations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least a two-year degree in a technology related field from an accredited program.

  • Must have a minimum of2years of work experience in SCADA design and testing.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.

  • Previous consulting experience.

  • Previous utility company experience.
