The Oil, Gas & Chemical global practice works on projects across the oil, gas and chemicals spectrum, from gas plants and midstream facilities to refining assets, chemical production plans, and stand-alone storage and logistics facilities. As a senior electrical engineer, you will apply your knowledge of industrial electrical system design requirements, design deliverables, project schedule, and leadership skills to lead teams of engineers and designers, and help grows the business by developing strong relationships with our clients.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead & execute detailed design electrical engineering activities for Engineering-Procurement-Construction projects in downstream and mid-stream US domestic Oil, Gas, and Chemical operations. May also be responsible for engineering in the front-end planning stages and take a project through completion, including answering questions from the field regarding installation details and commissioning procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute electrical engineering within budget by tracking labor hours and material quantities.

  • May assess the feasibility and propose alternate methods based on experience.

  • Responsible for all electrical work products including, but not limited to construction work packages, power system studies, and procurement packages.

  • Develop hazardous area classification source forms and plans; design 34.5kV, 15kV, 5kV, 600V, and below distribution systems; engineer distribution basic, relaying, and metering one lines; engineer 15Kv, 5KV, and 600V motor schematics; perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, time-current curves, circuit breaker settings, protective relay settings, grounding studies, arc flash studies, UPS and battery sizing, cable sizing, and other electrical calculations.

  • Develop specs to purchase electrical equipment.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members.

  • This position will be accountable for the technical and constructability of products and equipment.

  • Makes trips to job sites to survey existing electrical conditions (travel about 15%).

  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients and vendors.

  • Interact daily with other discipline engineers and project managers.

  • All other duties assigned.

Qualifications Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.

  • Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering a plus.

  • 7 years of electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.

  • Professional Engineering License (PE) and NCEES record for licensing in multiple states preferred.

  • Candidate must have experience as senior electrical engineer in a technical role on detailed design projects. Must have experience in Class 1 Div. 2 Group C, D areas.

  • Must have experience with design activities listed above.

  • Must be willing to travel to the job site and meet with clients and construction personnel to scope the project and answer construction problems.

  • Must have basic knowledge of construction methods such as cable tray installation, cable pulling, cable testing, etc.

  • Must have previous U.S. Domestic downstream and midstream Oil, Gas, and Chemical electrical distribution design experience.

  • Experience in construction and field start-up is a plus. Experience with large industrial facility revamp projects with a customized scope is a plus.

  • Must be familiar with industry-standard codes such as NEC, API, IEEE color series books.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.

  • Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Previous consulting experience preferred.

  • Ability to travel.
