Description
We are seeking to hire a Staff Mechanical Engineer within our Oil, Gas & Chemical Global Practice in our Houston, TX regional office!
The Staff Mechanical Engineers to support projects in a variety of industry sectors, including the strategic areas of renewable fuels and carbon capture/reduction.
Primary responsibilities include:
Specialize in rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, and mixers, and applicable auxiliary systems, including lubrication, cooling, sealing and machinery protection systems.
Prepare technical bid & purchase documents based on process datasheets, client specifications, and industry codes and standards.
Review vendor equipment bids and prepare technical bid evaluations.
Review vendor drawings and other documentation and regularly meet, correspond, and coordinate with equipment vendors.
Interface and coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines to meet project design requirements and effectively manage the internal flow of data and design changes.
Perform reviews of inter-discipline documents, such as P&IDs.
Provide field installation support for client and construction personnel and have an interest in troubleshooting machinery, and in pre-commissioning & start-up support.
Gain experience through mentoring provided by senior personnel and add responsibilities such as the opportunity oversee the execution of the above activities performed by less-experienced engineers.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
Or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
3 years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial rotating equipment.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Previous EPC industry consulting experience and/or operations or maintenance/reliability experience is considered a plus.
Familiarity with design codes and standards such as ASME, API, PIP.
TWIC eligible strongly preferred.
