Description
The Wireless Identity Engineer is responsible for setting the SIM and eSIM strategy for B&M’s private LTE team. As a key member of the private LTE team, the Wireless Identity Engineer is responsible for establishing standards and providing client-specific guidance that enables the successful deployment of SIMs (UICCs) and eSIMs (eUICCs and/or iUICCs) by B&M private LTE clients. The Wireless Identity Engineer also establishes internal standards for, and provides guidance around the SIM/eSIM management systems, such as SIM-OTA and associated Business Support Systems (BSS) needed to support the management and operations of SIM/eSIM technology in private wireless networks.
The ideal candidate will possess at least 7 years client-facing relevant industry expertise spanning both the SIM/eSIM technologies as well as the remote management technologies associated with each (M2M, Remote SIM Provisioning, SIM OTA, Mobile Device Management). Substantial experience required in creating SIM and/or eSIM profiles with demonstrable knowledge of the Elementary Files at the USIM Application DF level (eg. network and technology selection preferences, forbidden PLMNs, etc.).
Essential job duties and responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive SIM/eSIM application, system, profile and test specifications to drive the current and future needs of B&M’s clients
Provide expertise to B&M clients in identifying and deploying best SIM/eSIM solutions based on the individual goals of the clients
Propose (e)SIM-related technical solution stack that is commensurate with clients goals
Develop and maintain relationships with clients and partners as primary wireless identity technical interface to various levels within the client’s organizations
Lead and participate in technology meetings with clients, vendors, trade associations, workgroups, etc.
Conduct financial analysis of various SIM/eSIM alternatives to determine and defend the best alternative for B M’s clients
Be the trusted voice and champion of B&M’s private cellular solutions
Develop and maintain vendor relationships on behalf of B&M for the following:
SIM card/eSIM Profiles
SIM OTA
M2M eSIM Platform
Consumer Remote Service Provisioning (R.S.P.)
Mobile Device Management Platforms
Business Support Systems specific to SIM/eSIM inventory management
Qualifications
Experienced, creative, hands-on, technology professional who has a track record of successfully partnering with clients
Ability to simplify complicated technical details for consumption by non-technical clients and colleagues
Must have general understanding and practical experience working with SIM/eSIM-relevant standards across ETSI, GSMA, ISO, and 3GPP
Ability to organize and present complicated technical detail to broad audiences with varying degrees of technical background
Ability to quickly generate trust and confidence with clients
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills with the ability to influence clients
Ability to write statements of work, functional specifications, white papers and RFPs
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
Master’s Degree or above a plus. At least 7 years’ technical experience in the wireless industry, preferably having worked at a Tier One service provider and/or major SIM card vendor At least 5 years hands-on SIM/eSIM Profile development for carriers and SIM application deployment experience a plus JavaCard application development and testing experience highly desirable.
