Burns & McDonnell Project Manager - Industrial and Manufacturing (Huntsville) in Huntsville, Alabama

Description

Burns & McDonnell is looking for an experienced Industrial and Manufacturing Project Manager and leader in the Huntsville, AL area to build a strong regional presence to service local, regional and national clients. This individual will build on current and prior work in the region and will grow a regional team to further client relationships around our major clients in AL and build on a national reputation for design-build execution.

This individual will manage, direct and coordinate all aspects of design and construction work and teams related to multiple design-build, design only and construction projects. This position is responsible for the profit and loss of the individual projects, the successful completion of the projects within the specified dates, establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Owner, managing all design disciplines, coordinating with the Burns & McDonnell construction teams.

Ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate activities of several disciplines on a project of moderate scope or a combination of smaller projects

  • Project manage and pursue a wide variety of projects including general manufacturing, consumer products production, aviation, industrial, federal and large infrastructure projects, etc.

  • Oversee proposal development for project pursuits

  • Assist in the direction of project planning, budgeting and in establishing project critical path objectives

  • Manage project resources, sub-consultants and subcontractors

  • Provide inspirational leadership by attracting, retaining, motivating and developing high caliber, multi-discipline design and construction talent

  • Collaborate with managers, marketing staff and other Burns & McDonnell Global Practices to identify and analyze business development opportunities that are strategically aligned with company’s objectives

  • Identify target clients for Burns & McDonnell and cultivate effective relationships with existing and potential key clients, customers, and contractors to develop business

  • Develop pursuit strategy, capture plan development, go/no-go decisions to pre-sell projects before RFP release

  • Participate in necessary regional trade associations and professional organizations

  • Lead project teams working on all projects in the region and support national teams

  • Support the development and contracting of new pursuits and execute projects in support of identified Burns & McDonnell clients. The position will be responsible for working with business development teams and expansion to new clients throughout the region

  • Work with existing teams to develop business plan, projected staffing plan and overall business development strategies to grow sales, workload and backlog in the area and region.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum

  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience, including 3 or more years managing manufacturing and/or industrial engineering or architectural projects

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage work plans, schedules and budgets and provide leadership to a diverse project team

  • Flexibility to travel 25% of the time

  • Ability to apply and receive approval for assigned client screening and badging

  • Strong appreciation of the design-build contracting methodology and prior experience completing design-build projects

  • Must be versed in contract negotiation

  • Strong communication abilities exhibited by developed client relationships. Ability to quickly build long-term connections with internal and external clients by networking

  • Must carry strong interpersonal and communication skills and display a positive can-do attitude both internally and externally

  • Experience with manufacturing processes and industrial projects and clients is preferred

  • Professional Registration in AL and TN preferred
