Burns & McDonnell Air & Noise Intern - Environmental Services (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

Our Environmental Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard environmental techniques and procedures. Responsibilities include assisting with environmental site assessments, field studies, development of soil and groundwater sampling plans, data analysis, GIS analysis, site remediation, and preparation of environmental reports, permits, and assessments.

This opportunity is specifically within the Air & Noise group. Within this group, our Intern hires will work on permitting services in the power, industrial, commercial, transportation and manufacturing industries. This includes performing air and noise quality analyses and permitting, environmental regulatory analysis and interpretation of environmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Acoustic Engineering, Noise Control, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architectural Acoustics, or related degree from an accredited program

  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience Preferred

  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
