Burns & McDonnell Corporate Paralegal in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Corporate Paralegal will assist with supporting the in-house legal department, including the General Counsel, staff attorneys, and other paralegals. This position will be responsible for providing support for regulatory, compliance, and governance matters. Duties may include preparing and submitting regulatory and compliance filings, facilitating governance activities, preparing and distributing correspondence, maintaining legal department records, and managing and archiving various corporate documents. The Corporate Paralegal will assist the attorneys and other paralegals to review, edit and draft routine legal documents.

Job Duties

  • Assist with corporate compliance, governance, and licensing efforts.

  • Provide legal and corporate related information to internal clients for use in proposals, qualifications, and contracts.

  • Act as a liaison between in-house attorneys and internal clients, as needed.

  • Provide Notary Public service as needed to attorneys and in-house clients.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, an emphasis in paralegal studies preferred.

  • 4 years of experience supporting senior level attorneys or executives, preferably in the architecture/engineering consulting or construction industries, or the legal field.

  • Must have strong knowledge of commonly used legal processes, practices, and procedures.

  • Requires previous experience working on litigation and legal claims matters and/or corporate and regulatory compliance matters

  • Previous experience working with corporate legal matters, including preparing minutes, keeping records, and corporate registrations, licensing and other filings preferred.

  • Must be able to manage and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner, meeting applicable deadlines.

  • Requires strong analytical ability, critical thinking, problem solving, and research skills.

  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal guidance.

  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.

  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with all levels of management, clients, in-house attorneys, outside counsel, government staff and others outside of the organization, and the ability to maintain a positive, friendly, and outgoing attitude.

  • Requires superior verbal and written communication skills, including strong editing and proofreading skills.

  • Must be a Notary Public.

  • Must have advanced skills in all Microsoft Office applications.

  • Must be responsible in dealing with sensitive information, always keeping confidential and proprietary information safe and secure.
