Burns & McDonnell Corporate Quality Director - Project Delivery (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

The Corporate Quality Director is responsible for the managerial direction and overall leadership of the Corporate Quality department, Construction Quality department, and the Burns & McDonnell Quality Management System. This includes supporting and executing business strategy, delivering winning solutions, developing high performance teams, and promoting the Burns & McDonnell culture, values, and mission in working closely with Global Practices, Regional Offices, and project teams to develop and implement planned and systematic activities to ensure the quality requirements for a product or service will be fulfilled. The Corporate Quality Director will lead the department in a dynamic and profitable manner based on Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety and overall outstanding service.

  • Manage the Corporate Quality Department, Construction Quality Department, and staff of Quality Managers, Quality Specialists, and Inspectors.

  • Lead the expanded Global Practice and Regional Office Quality Manager group.

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for quality related issues. Provide consulting and expertise internally to organizational management, Global Practices, project teams, and externally to clients and professional organizations.

  • Direct Burns & McDonnell's Corporate Quality Program of policies, standards, standard operating procedures and best practices.

  • Manage the Design Verification process across all Global Practices.

  • Develop, measure, and report on Key Performance Indicators.

  • Manage programs for Nonconformance Control / Condition Reporting, Root Cause Analysis, and Process Improvement.

  • Lead the Burns & McDonnell Knowledge Capture (Lessons Learned) Program.

  • Assist Global Practices with client satisfaction measurement.

  • Manage the Internal Quality Audit program including auditor qualifications and audit planning.

  • Lead Internal Quality Audits, prepare reports, and resolve findings.

  • Lead annual Management Review.

  • Manage and maintain the Burns & McDonnell's guide specifications.

  • Achieves stated targets and standards for financial performance.

  • Manages operational budget.

  • Provide technical and industry expertise with respect to Quality Assurance programs.

  • Responsible for business plan development to secure internal and external financing within established risk financial parameters.

  • Provide leadership, career coaching and development.

  • Present monthly financial information to leadership including expense forecasts.

  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluation for selected department/direct reports.

  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the department.

  • Support diversity initiatives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, business, construction, procurement or related degree from an accredited program

  • Minimum of 13 years relevant consulting experience

  • Master's degree MBA preferred

  • Expert experience in investigating, evaluating, selecting, and driving the development of products for an organization.

  • Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven experience having led and completed projects from business proposal through post-production support preferred.

  • Demonstrated success as to budget, savings and/or profit margins in completed projects.

  • Ability to filter and distill relevant information and convey business and technical concepts to a diverse client base and internal technical teams.

  • Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead and manage.

  • Excellent planning and analytical skills.

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

  • Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent.
