Description

The 1898 & Co. Director is responsible for the successful sale and execution of technology consulting engagements within the 1898 & Co. consulting services unit of Burns & McDonnell. The Director will manage and provide expertise to a team of consultants and analysts in the day-to-day management of project quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontracts, proposals, estimates, and client relations. The Director will ensure client satisfaction through commitment, dedication, integrity, and overall outstanding service.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses industry expertise to define and make market-ready analytics-focused services offered by 1898 & Co.

  • Market relevant solutions that address pressing Utility business challenges.

  • Generate ROI for customer and enables future value creation

  • Align with 1898 Co. capabilities or aspirations

  • Leverage Burns & McDonnell’s position in the market and experience

  • Create and manages a go-to-market strategy for all services/products

  • Leverages experience and industry knowledge to create immediate client credibility

  • Leads client sales engagement

  • Works with business development and account management teams across the company

  • Utilizes client engagement leaders to extend reach and position for opportunities

  • Responsible for strategy and development of sales pipeline and flow of opportunities. Manages pipeline to sales targets leveraging teams across the organization

  • Directs Product Manager(s) focused on Utility Analytics services and solutions

  • Works directly with a broad range of stakeholders to position team capabilities

  • Creates and/or ensures that marketing collateral meets market/client needs

  • Continual research and client conversations that enable thought leadership and transform client’s guidance to new services/products

  • Engage in strategic consulting to help customers envision, adopt, and improve their analytics platforms and operations

  • Identify areas where products can be built in the marketplace

  • Creates business case, lean canvas, and other plans as needed

  • Creates and/or reviews proposals to ensure quality and effectiveness

  • Active in the utility analytics thought leadership community. May include publishing papers, blogs, speaking and representation in organizations

  • Develops relationships with Burns & McDonnell global practices. Communicates with other global practice service offerings, capabilities for: Water and Transmission & Distribution

  • Works with business line leadership to ensure proper execution team composition (data engineer, project manager, data scientist, engineer, etc.)

  • Helps recruit data engineers, data scientists, projects managers, etc. required to support products and services

  • Participates, as needed, in Energy Impact Partners workgroups and events

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program. A minimum of 13 years relevant consulting experience.

  • MBA preferred.

  • Excellent business acumen with proven success managing consulting engagements.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly and efficiently interpret large data sets.

  • Ability to uncover customer needs, develop recommendations and deliver them persuasively.

  • Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem solving skills.

  • Strong understanding of financial concepts.

  • Excellent planning and analytical skills.

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
