Burns & McDonnell DOE Quality Assurance Manager - Aviation & Federal (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Federal Quality Assurance Program (FQAP) and Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) project implementation for the Department of Energy business line. This involves supporting many office locations and projects across the nation.

  • Responsible for the effective development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure successful project execution.

  • Support projects from proposal to closeout with problem solving, standardized guidelines, quality programs and procedures, staff development, quality, and continuous improvement tools.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and execution of the FQAP.

  • Responsible for federal contract quality requirements, Federal Employee Concerns Program, Export Controls, verifying implementation of the applicable quality assurance procedures for federal activities, qualifying suppliers for federal safety-related procurements, maintaining an Approved Suppliers List (ASL), interfacing with Project Quality Managers, and processing nonconforming items.

  • Verify and assure proper implementation of project quality programs.

  • Coordinate, monitor and implement FQAP and NQA-1 training programs.

  • Recommend continuous improvement strategies.

  • Provide performance-based audits.

  • Conduct internal and external project performance-based audits.

  • Conduct condition assessment, including root cause analysis.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited curriculum.

  • Minimum 7 years related experience in quality auditing of engineering and construction projects.

  • NQA-1, 10 CFR 830 subpart A, and DOE Order 414.1D experience preferred.

  • Ability to attain NQA-1 Lead Auditor Certification within two years.

  • Experience with creation of quality manuals for industry markets.

  • Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent planning and analytical skills.

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees and management
