Burns & McDonnell Human Resources Coordinator in Kansas City, Missouri


The Human Resources Coordinator role is responsible for performing a variety of duties in support of the human resources organization throughout all phases of the employee life cycle process. Individuals in this role will be assigned to support a specific team within human resources and tasks will vary by team, as outlined below with other duties, as assigned, to contribute to the overall success of the company.


  • Assist in the daily administration of company benefit programs, including interaction with employees, spouses, retirees and beneficiaries to answer basic to moderately complex questions.

  • Research and resolve benefit related issues for employees

  • Conduct benefit related presentations (e.g., new employee orientation)

  • Assist employees with benefit plan enrollment and answer any related questions

  • Interact with benefit plan retirement plan record keepers to provide information as requested

  • Produce, update and distribute plan forms and communications

  • Assist in the management of online benefit information (including posting, reviewing and maintaining content on the company intranet)

  • Compile and analyze data for various benefits related projects

  • Troubleshoot problems associated with benefit claims and interact with plan administrators, as needed.

  • Provide general administrative support to the benefits team, including, but not limited to: answering phones, assisting employees with questions and resolving issues, filing and shredding documents, sort incoming mail and faxes.


  • Assist in the daily administration of our education and training programs, including interaction with learners, instructors, and managers to answer basic to moderately complex questions.

  • Process employee requests for tuition assistance and external training, including: reviewing applications, payments, and maintaining related records.

  • Generate and format training related reports for instructors, managers, etc.

  • Assist with the development of new training materials or updating existing classes through researching specific topics, reviewing materials, etc.

  • Support new employee onboarding program efforts, including: scheduling of events, program enrollments, logistical arrangements, and material ordering and preparation.

  • Assist with the our annual instructor recognition program. Working with others on the Education & Training team, plan the annual instructor recognition luncheon (e.g., catering, communications, etc.)

  • Provide general administrative support to the education and training team, including: answering phones, assisting employees with questions and resolving issues, and updating intranet site.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field; an emphasis in Human Resources Management or Marketing is preferred.

  • Previous human resources internship experience preferred

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), interpersonal skills, and analytical/problem-solving skills. Must have the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and external vendors.

  • Ability to multi-task and handle interruptions of work stream within a fast-paced environment.

  • This position requires strong attention to detail and organization skills.

  • Must be professional, self-starter and willing to be flexible.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
