Burns & McDonnell Marketing Strategist Manager in Kansas City, Missouri


The Marketing Strategy Manager manages a team of marketing business partners throughout the organization as well as working with the Director of Corporate Marketing on brand management, advertising, and integrated marketing communications. This position will provide strategic direction to each business unit(s) and national office(s) by managing the marketing strategies to achieve sales and business plan goals:

  • Lead the marketing strategy team to work in conjunction with each business unit and national office to build annual marketing plans to achieve business and sales goals.

  • Manage a team of national marketing business partners.

  • With direction from the Director of Marketing, this position will lead and build brand and advertising strategy.

  • Manage the creative, strategic oversight of our branded interiors program to bring brand and culture to life for our employees, customers and community partners.

  • Manage all national project awards and submittals

  • Manage and direct oversight of our tradeshow strategy, presence, delivery and execution.

  • Manage the client research, market analysis and business analysis process.

  • Manage ongoing strategic planning for business unit in effort to keep marketing efforts focused.

  • With direction from the Director of Marketing, develop firm-wide marketing systems, procedures and resources.

  • Present at marketing roundtables and all-team meetings.

  • Act as a liaison for internal communication of firm-wide marketing news and developments.

  • Manage a reporting system for marketing costs; reviews marketing performance summaries.

  • Work in collaboration with Content Marketing Manager to develop strategies and execution for marketing and sales materials.

  • Manage the overall quality of marketing procedures, people and product to optimize process efficiencies.

  • Attend professional organizations and conferences; builds professional network.

  • Develop and implements promotional initiatives.

  • Responsible for recruitment, development, training, retention and evaluating performance of the marketing team.

  • Manage team deadlines, benchmarks and effectiveness of marketing plans and provide updates to each business unit on the timeline of the plan and deliverable.

  • Lead marketing meetings between business unit and/or national office and marketing team.

  • Create and maintain a reporting system for marketing costs; reviews marketing performance summaries.

  • Manage all elements of the Corporate Apparel Store and Trade show gifts.

  • Key participant in recruitment, professional development and evaluation of marketing staff.

  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years experience either as an A/E professional, in marketing or sales with a professional services firm.

  • Superior technical writing abilities.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
