Burns & McDonnell Project Coordinator - Corporate Accounting & Finance (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri


This Project Coordinator facilitates projects and initiatives within the Accounting & Finance Department by collaborating with department leadership and providing administrative efforts. This position coordinates internally and externally within the department in facilitating solutions to meet department project and people needs.

  • Facilitate the dissemination of information inside and outside of the department to employees, vendors, clients, and project teams as part of overall communications.

  • Resolve questions regarding the department; research and provide appropriate answers.

  • Prepare and present meeting notes, presentations and tables utilizing Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, Teams and other programs.

  • Monitor initiative deadlines and benchmarks. Support presentation of monthly progress reports covering action items and progress updates.

  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate on-site and off-site trainings for the department. This includes orientation, onboarding, lunch-n-learns, trainings and department meetings.

  • Support the development, coordination and maintenance of training materials, presentations and documents.

  • Create, distribute and monitor surveys using Microsoft Forms or other programs.

  • Maintain and coordinate updates, news articles and publications for the department's internal SharePoint site.

  • Organize, coordinate and schedule leadership and department meetings and events.

  • Manage and coordinate the required CPE training programs and records for department personnel in conjunction with the corporate training department to ensure compliance.

  • Verify accuracy and compliance with department requirements of bills/invoices, trip tickets and expense reports and process items in a timely manner.

  • Manage IT resources for department by coordinating with internal support departments.

  • Establish priorities and deadlines on deliverables.

  • Develop procedures and calendars pertaining to internal department requirements.

  • Facilitate external financial audit including on-site visits, interviews and PBC lists.

  • Coordination of annual department intern schedules and events.

  • All other duties as assigned.


  • High School Degree required. Associate's Degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred, in a related field or a minimum of 10 years' experience. Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirements.

  • Position requires ability to work independently, demonstrating accuracy, reliability, organization and problem solving skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint is required.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Stream, Forms, Power Apps, Power Bi and SharePoint is preferred.

  • Ability to quickly learn and master technical skills of new software applications and tools.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels within an organization.
