Burns & McDonnell Sales Operations Strategist - 1898 & Co. (Kansas City, MO) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Sales Operations Strategist is responsible for managing the analysis of 1898 & Co. sales, marketing, and business development activities to achieve business goals. The Sales Operations Strategist will represent the department in a dynamic and profitable manner based on Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety, and overall outstanding service.

  • Developing, implementing, and managing the 1898 & Co. sales process.

  • Developing, strategic sales marketing plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services.

  • Establishing and managing sales and marketing budgets.

  • Collaborating internally with other business units, with an external focus to maximize existing client opportunities and develop new and unique clients that yield additional project opportunities and business deals.

  • Collaborating with business development managers, business line leads, project managers, and proposal production staff on proposals.

  • Coordinating with internal Burns & McDonnell client managers (across multiple Global Practices as necessary) to develop pursuit plans in conjunction with ongoing business opportunities.

  • Utilizing CRM for opportunity tracking, record of contacts, and development of Client Action Plans for wide distribution of business insights.

  • Organizing client and/or opportunity-specific teams of consulting professionals to contribute to winning potential business opportunities.

  • Identifying leading market ideas and thought leadership by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements and tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments from current and prospective clients and industry peers.

  • Working with 1898 & Co. leadership to screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; and recommending equity investments.

  • Works with 1898 & Co. leadership to develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new ventures with company strategies and operation, examining risks and potentials, and estimating partners' needs and goals.

  • Attend and participate in professional associations.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Identify new, non-traditional and compelling solutions to customers’ stated project scopes that differentiate BMcD.

  • Participate in annual marketing and sales planning process.

  • Commit to personal sales and marketing goals and develop plans to achieve goals.

  • Assist in the development of annual sales and marketing budget for 1898 & Co.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program.

  • Minimum 10 years relevant industry experience with business development/sales experience, with writing or preparing written sales-type information.

  • Sales operations experience or sales enablement experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of Burns & McDonnel capabilities and services across the organization; ability to cross-sell.

  • Experience in successful client and business development strongly preferred.

  • Experience in managing projects, including proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team coordination and communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination strongly preferred.

  • Experience in successful facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem solving skills.

  • Excellent planning and analytical skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

  • Thorough knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent.
