Burns & McDonnell's growing Kansas City, Missouri Water Practice is in search of a Senior Civil Engineer specializing in water distribution and sewer collection systems. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate work associated with the study and/or design of potable water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection systems, and/or stormwater collection systems. Coordination of activities of several disciplines may be required for projects of significant or moderate scope, or a combination of smaller projects. Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members. Provides advanced technical advice to staff. Assists with supervision of staff on major projects. Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel. Assist with marketing and sales responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum.
Minimum seven years related experience.
Candidate must have technical skill sets in any of the following areas: hydrology, hydraulics, systems modeling, design of green infrastructure, design of large diameter pipelines, or design of storm and sanitary sewers.
Candidate must have experience in the preparation of contract documents and the production of plans and specifications.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, Civil 3D, InfoWorks, XP-SWMM and/or HEC-RAS a plus.
Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong analytical and problem- solving skills.
Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public contracts on project-related matters.
