Burns & McDonnell Senior Developer - Corporate IT (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

We seek a talented and experienced Senior Developer to lead our efforts in developing robust data integration solutions and APIs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development with specific expertise in data integration, API design and management, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices, and Agile project management. As a Senior Developer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our data interoperability, optimizing our integration processes, and guiding a team of dedicated integration developers toward achieving scalable and efficient software solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for setting the direction for our API architecture, governance, and lifecycle management, working closely with a team of integration developers to create scalable, secure, and efficient API solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for API development, standardization, and management across the organization.

  • Lead the design and architecture of robust API solutions that meet business and technical requirements.

  • Establish API governance practices, including design, security, and monitoring standards to ensure high-quality API ecosystems.

  • Lead the architecture and implementation of secure, robust, and high-performance data integration pipelines.

  • Work closely with other developers, data analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver comprehensive integration solutions.

  • Develop and manage APIs for internal and external use, ensuring they are well-documented, version-controlled, and compliant with industry standards.

  • Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment processes, improving code quality and development efficiency.

  • Champion Agile methodologies within the team, facilitating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure timely and effective project execution.

  • Mentor junior developers in best practices for data integration, API development, and Agile processes.

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data integration, API development, and software engineering to continuously improve our solutions.

  • Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering, or related field and eight years required

  • Expert knowledge of programming languages and coding principles and procedures.

  • Expert in the web development framework.

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.

  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PPT).

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, and collaboration.

  • Ability to obtain applicable certifications.

Desired Skills:

  • Certifications in Agile methodologies, CI/CD tools, or API management platforms like MuleSoft.

  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Oracle, OCI) and their integration services.

  • Solid understanding and experience with CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, ADO).

  • Proven experience in Agile development environments and familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages relevant to data integration and API development (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).

  • Demonstrated experience with data integration tools and ETL processes.
