Burns & McDonnell Senior Energy Consultant - 1898 & Co. (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Senior Energy Consultant will provide industry-leading guidance and support to complex projects within the 1898 & Co. consulting services sector of Burns & McDonnell. Servicing a diverse portfolio of clients, this industry consultant will drive innovative solutions through deep technical and/or industry experience to expand and deliver our offerings to critical clients. This position will be responsible for providing project technical oversight, expertise, and support engagement delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

Job Duties

  • Guide and work alongside teams of junior consultants through all phases of delivery including discovery, requirements gathering, analysis, solution architecture, recommendations, and implementation.

  • Understand, advise, and assess industry and market influences, trends, and technologies.

  • Develop and maintain trusted and open relationships with client and partner leaders at top management levels.

  • Assist in building the firm's expert network of industry and technical resources.

  • Leverage professional network to generate new opportunities through quality delivery and technical excellence.

  • Establish credibility through thought leadership (technical papers, industry publications, digital media, etc.) and participation in industry and technical groups, conferences, etc.

  • Support efforts to increase the firm's market share for consulting services in the chosen area(s) of technology by securing additional projects and clients.

  • Contribute to key pursuits in the chosen area(s) of expertise.

  • Develop and deliver training classes to share knowledge and expertise.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to staff.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related degree from an accredited program.

  • 14 years of related professional experience

  • Working for or providing consulting services within the industry or technical specialty by leveraging business and engineering analysis preferred.

  • Past and current participation in industry and/or technical groups preferred.

  • Demonstrated network of external colleagues and partners within their chosen area(s) of expertise preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of leading technologies applied to their chosen area(s) of expertise preferred.

  • Ability to work with existing and new clients to identify new projects, articulate to the clients our ability to perform those projects, and translate that into the sale of consulting services preferred.

  • Experience in facilitation, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients preferred.

  • Effective written and oral communications skills.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

  • Capable of independently solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria preferred.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with contractors, co-workers, and other professionals preferred.

  • The ability to influence, lead and manage change thoughtfully and positively preferred.

  • Previous internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.

  • Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in standard electrical engineering techniques and procedures.

  • Successful completion of the FE exam strongly preferred.
