Burns & McDonnell Senior Financial Business Partner / Contract Analyst in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

  • Responsible for overseeing month-end process and review of financial statements for assigned international locations.

  • Serve as the financial liaison for assigned international subsidiary management and resource for domestic management to understand foreign results.

  • Responsible for overseeing international statutory filings, annual financial audits for international subsidiaries and supporting the consolidated financial statement audit.

  • Involved in the start-up of new international entities and related accounting needs.

  • Serve as the liaison for resolving all accounting related issues as it pertains to assigned contracts international subsidiaries.

  • Assist in determining & implementing transfer pricing approach for international locations.

  • Engages in evaluating revenue recognition for construction and engineering projects, reviewing contracts and interpret financial implications including applying construction and engineering accounting standards by analyzing project cost reports evaluating risks related to contingencies and warranty.

  • Attends monthly project-review meetings and provide recommendations on revenue recognition to project managers and division managers.

  • Responsible for assisting in client-initiated project audits and project-specific financial audits as needed.

  • Assist in mentoring and developing staff accountants.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum eight (8) years of related accounting experience; extra credit may be given for public accounting experience

  • Strong financial reporting background including reviewing or posting journal entries, account reconciliations, preparing financial statements, and company audits and filings

  • History in the accounting and financial management of contracts, specifically in the construction and engineering or software industries with exposure to percent complete accounting revenue recognition preferred

  • History in reviewing foreign contracts, foreign currency experience, foreign financial reporting and transfer pricing preferred

  • Must have excellent conflict resolution, client relationship experience and communication skills, with experience managing staff preferred

  • Experience with Oracle and Power BI is preferred but not required

  • CPA preferred but not required
