Burns & McDonnell Senior Project Accountant in Kansas City, Missouri
The position reports to the Project Accounting Supervisor and will work independently as well as serving as a resource for questions from the Project Accounting team.
Assistance with establishment of work breakdown structure, other key set-ups, project closeouts, and updates to cost forecast in accounting and project system
Assistance in reconciliation of cost forecast and accounting system to provide accrual support
Review of vendor/subcontractor invoices for compliance with purchase order/subcontract agreement
Verification receipt of materials/equipment or other deliverables with project field staff/project management
Coordination of approval of vendor/subcontract invoices
Revising purchase orders
Preparation of client invoices
Identifying and spearheading process improvements
Ad hoc reporting
Training of new employee
All other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university; 6 years professional work experience preferred.
Proven ability to analyze and interpret contracts.
Advanced skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
Previous Oracle experience preferred.
Self-starter, proficient in time management to handle deadline pressure and multiple assignments simultaneously.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
