Burns & McDonnell Senior Structural Engineer - Industrial Water/Wastewater in Kansas City, Missouri
Burns & McDonnell's Water Practice is in search for a Senior Structural Engineer for its rapidly growing Industrial Group. Candidate will be responsible for the design and specification of steel, concrete, masonry, stainless steel, and aluminum structures for industrial water and wastewater treatment facilities associated with refineries, power plants, and manufacturing facilities. Executes complex assignments requiring the use of advanced design and detailing techniques. Develops scopes of work, project schedules, design budgets, and staffing plans. May assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient or testing is advisable. Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members. Regularly meets and corresponds with clients, contractors, or outside personnel. Some marketing responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from accredited program. Minimum seven years related experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Strong AutoCAD, SmartPlant, CADWorx, or similar 3D CAD skills a plus. This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments. Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered. Experience with refineries preferred, but not necessary. Professional Engineer license preferred.
