Burns & McDonnell Senior Technical Consultant in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Senior Managing Consultant will provide industry leading advice and expertise to complex projects within the Business & Technology Solutions consulting sector of Burns & McDonnell. Servicing a diverse portfolio of clients, this industry leader will drive innovative solutions through deep technical and/or industry experience to expand and deliver our offerings to critical clients. This position will be responsible for providing project technical oversight, expertise and leading engagement delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

  • Build and guide teams of consultants through all phases of delivery including discovery, requirements gathering, analysis, solution architecture, recommendations, and implementation.

  • Manage engagement delivery content and quality assurance of complex, non-traditional projects.

  • Understand, advise and assess industry and market influences, trends and technologies with a focus on impact to the business unit.

  • Develop and maintain trusted and open relationships with client and partner leaders at top management levels.

  • Assist in building the firm's expert network of industry and technical resources.

  • Leverage professional network to generate new opportunities through quality delivery and technical excellence.

  • Establish continuous credibility through extensive thought leadership (technical papers, industry publications, digital media, etc.) and participation in industry and technical groups, conferences, etc.

  • Responsible for strategic insight for the firm's ability to market technical and advisory services to clients. Lead efforts to increase the firm's market share for consulting services in the chosen area(s) of technology by securing additional projects and clients.

  • Oversee key pursuits in chosen area(s) of expertise.

  • Develop and deliver training classes to share knowledge and expertise.

  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to staff.

  • Ensure compliance with company site safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program.

  • MBA preferred.

  • 20 years of related professional experience working for or providing consulting services within the industry or technical specialty by leveraging business and engineering analysis.

  • Past and current participation in industry and/or technical groups

  • Demonstrated network of external colleagues and partners within their chosen area(s) of expertise.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of state of the art technology applied to their chosen area(s) of expertise.

  • Ability to work with existing and new clients to identify new projects, articulate to the clients our ability to perform those projects, and translate that into the sale of consulting services

  • Expert computer skills using industry relevant software.

  • Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management and clients.

  • Expert written and oral communications skills.

  • Expert critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

  • Capable of independently solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with existing clients and develop business opportunities with new and existing clients.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with vendors and partners.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with contractors, co-workers, and other professionals.

The ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
