The Power global practice provides a multidisciplinary approach to power solutions from project financing, siting and permitting to turnkey construction and startup. Our experience covers the full breadth of power generation technologies — from gas turbines to solar, batteries, hydrogen, carbon capture and nuclear plant services.

The Power group is seeking to hire a Staff Application Specialist who will work in our Kansas City, MO World Headquarters office. The Staff Applications Specialist will develop and advance software technology and tools in the Power Global Practice. This position will work within the Technology & Innovation team and collaborate with Project Delivery and other Global Practices as needed throughout the development and implementation process according to organization budget constraints and internal and external client needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop solutions for applications, reports and dashboards for internal and external clients, including model-driven apps, canvas apps, and portal apps.

  • Develop solutions in reporting platforms offered throughout the organization, including Microsoft Power Apps, Power BI, and SharePoint.

  • Support Energy Data Intelligence Roadmap:

  • Master Data Management – evaluate SQL staging tables used to extract data from our design applications. Maintain consistency and work with departments to develop process control that supports quality data.

  • Data Glossary – Maintain data sources and build a data glossary for each and every data point used in structured data tables.

  • Process Control – work with discipline design and engineering to update processes as needed to support consistent, high-quality data.

  • Lead implementation efforts for innovative initiatives supporting the division in alignment with core values.

  • Research and compile new software applications to support project delivery and data management initiatives.

  • Compile information from disciplines and different business units to develop software and technology that will optimize business intelligence, provide seamless integration, and improve data management.

  • Adhere to and be responsible for compliance with Burns & McDonnell Safety and Quality Control programs.

  • Ensure compliance with company and customer policies.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering, computer science, or related degree. and 4 years of relevant experience. Consulting experience in the architectural, engineering and construction industries preferred. Required

  • Software development and programming experience required.

  • Understanding of software and hardware system architecture.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

  • Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
