The Staff Civil Designer will work on an integrated design team within our Aviation & Federal Global Practice. Staff Civil Designer will perform the expected tasks with a moderate level of guidance from the design team and staff.

Our team is routinely responsible for performing the following:

  • Develop master plans for state-of-the-art facilities for commercial aviation and federal government clients. These facilities include aircraft maintenance hangars, engine maintenance facilities, munitions storage, personnel training facilities, flight simulator facilities, and administration buildings.

  • Design site infrastructure for these facilities, including road geometry, parking lot layout, utility layout, grading and drainage design, and stormwater management.

  • Design airfield infrastructure for regional and international airport clients, including runways, taxiways, parking aprons, alert shelters, and engine runup areas.

  • Design fuel storage and piping facilities at airports and military facilities.

  • Design ramp support facilities at airports including aircraft parking, maneuvering, jet bridge analysis, and ground support equipment servicing/parking.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Drafting and Design Technology degree and 9 years’ CAD experience, or

  • Associate degree in Drafting and Design Technology and 8 years CAD experience, or

  • Bachelor's degree in Drafting and Design Technology or related field and 7 years CAD experience.

Software Competencies:

  • Autodesk Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office products.

  • Knowledge of Autodesk Infraworks, Microstation, AutoTURN, AviPLAN, SiteOps, ArcGIS, and Adobe Products would be beneficial.

Job Performance Expectations:

  • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of CAD standards and best practices.

  • Learn and successfully apply company, client, and project drafting standards.

  • Demonstrate ability to exercise independent design decisions to complete required drawings.

  • Advanced knowledge in the theory and practices of civil discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to Civil Design .

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and clients) in a multi-disciplined project team environment to accomplish objectives.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Some travel may be required. More experienced technicians may attend design workshops or perform field inspections.
