Burns & McDonnell Staff Estimator - Construction/Design-Build (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri
Description
The Estimator will be responsible for producing Engineering and Construction Design-Build / EPC estimates and proposals for water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure.. The estimator will help develop all or specific parts of estimates for engineering/design contracts, design build pursuits or EPC projects. Must be able to present accurate estimates in a credible and professional manor while meeting all internal and external deadlines and schedule milestones.
Assist with estimating strategy, and lead implementation efforts.
Assist with identifying and coordinating with specific discipline estimators to ensure timely completion of entire estimates.
Lead reviews of project summary schedules for approval.
Provide estimating and/or support for multiple discplines on any given estimate.
Ability to perform conceptual estimating.
Manage workload scheduling to ensure deliverables.
Responsible for adherence to quality process.
Contribute to department mentoring and training.
Provide accurate material and labor costs for clients and proposals.
Understand and communicate requirements for bonds and insurance to estimating manager or lead estimator.
Assist with small and disadvantaged business solicitation and evaluations.
Lead subcontractor solicitation & pre-qualification reviews.
Lead quantity survey and labor pricing review.
Responsible for understanding specialty and standard process equipment and material pricing
Review and verify subcontractor bid packages before being transmitted for quotes.
Consult labor market studies, and reference when pricing.
Be able to present the estimate or portions thereof to internal and external clients.
Meet internal deadlines for review and approval of final estimates before proposal presentation.
Assist estimating manager with developing a cost history data base, management and process for water/wastewater estimating..
Assist with and review pricing general conditions and indirect cost.
Understand project risk as it relates to fee, contingency and escalation for estimates..
Review and understand commercial terms and conditions and address risk issues.
Identify and explain price value engineering options, gaps and overlaps in scope of work

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. A minimum of 4 years of direct project estimating experience
Ability to work independently or in groups, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office, PlanSwift (or other digital takeoff software) and RS Means.
May be required to obtain an OSHA 10 hour safety certification
