Burns & McDonnell Staff Process Engineer- Decarbonization (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

Work on project teams focusing on the exciting emerging market of decarbonization. Work on conceptual design projects, FEED studies, and detailed design / EPC projects involving decarbonization technologies such as: hydrogen production and utilization, carbon capture, direct air capture (DAC), long duration energy storage processes, liquified natural gas (LNG), and more. Work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting process plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. Perform process design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion. Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: hydrogen production facilities, DAC facilities, power plants, LNG facilities, and other industrial facilities. Design process components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. Applies strong knowledge of commonly used process engineering/design concepts, principles, codes, and procedures within the process engineering services industry. Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers. Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software. Build familiarity with technologies and OEMs in the decarbonization market. Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of decarbonization facilities. Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients. Primarily domestic travel required up to 25% for client and project site visits. Telecommuting permitted up to thirty (30) days per year. Multiple Positions Available.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s of Science degree, or foreign equivalent, in Chemical Engineering, or a directly related engineering field from an ABET accredited program plus three (3) years of process engineering experience.

Must have at least three (3) years of experience with the following:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Hysys or Aspen

Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, or a directly related engineering field from an ABET accredited program plus two (2) years of process engineering experience in lieu of Bachelor’s plus three (3) years of process engineering experience.

Must have at least two (2) years of experience with the following:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Hysys or Aspen

Primarily domestic travel required up to 25% for client and project site visits. Telecommuting permitted up to thirty (30) days per year.
