Burns & McDonnell Staff Project Engineer - Pipelines (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Burns & McDonnell office in Kansas City has an exciting opportunity for a Pipeline Project Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing technical leadership, direction, and support for pipeline design team on projects including:

  • Pipeline design including plans, profiles, crossings, details, associated bill of materials, and related facilities

  • Coordination to obtain survey, geotechnical investigations, permitting, land acquisition.

  • Calculations for studies and reports

  • Material and equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing

  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing team members

  • Servicing as primary technical point of contact for the client

  • Implementation of quality control processes

  • Supporting proposal development

  • Leading coordination and communication of project requirements and schedule needs across disciplines

  • Oversight of production work required to meet deliverable milestones

  • Identifying, developing, and communicating processes and tools to increase efficiency across team and department

  • Creating, improving, facilitating, and teaching training courses to the project team and department

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from accredited program

  • 4 years related experience (completion of master’s degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience)

  • Certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Licensed Professional Engineer PE) is preferred

  • Experience in scheduling and budgeting

  • Proficiency with 49 CFR Part 192 and ASME B31.8.

  • Strong preference for those with:

  • Experience and connections within the natural gas utility industry

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria
