Burns & McDonnell Structural Drafter/Detailer in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

Burns & McDonnell’s world headquarters in Kansas City, MO, is looking for a Structural Drafter/Detailer to revise and prepare drawings on a variety of oil, gas and chemical projects. The Structural Drafter/Detailer will work within our Oil, Gas & Chemical Global Practice and perform the following duties:

  • 2D & 3D drafting for downstream refinery projects, to include concrete and steel foundations and structures.

  • Coordinating with other disciplines

  • This position is responsible for revising existing drawings and preparing drawings of basic components from verbal or written instructions or detailed sketches.

  • This position successfully plots drawings; learns and follows company and client drafting standards and procedures; learns the practices of a selected discipline.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Two years of professional drafting experience. Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in computer-aided drafting and design highly preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Tekla experience is a plus. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Previous internship and/or related consulting experience preferred. Mastered basic commands of at least one type of CAD system (ability to occasionally use higher-level commands, timesaving programs and routines).
